Venting Session | Dealing w/ Businesses

Hey guys!

So I just really needed to vent for a second. Not because i’m upset per say, but more so annoyed.

Now, let me just start off by saying that I love helping supporting businesses. Especially when they are black owned and/or woman owned. So if you contact me and ask me partner with you more than likely i’ll help support, but I only support things I truly believe in. If something doesn’t work for me, i’m the type of person who will contact you and let you know. I won’t put it out there for the world to see.

With that being said, I was supposed to partner with a specific up and coming business (I won’t put it out there). She wanted me to use a specific product that was going to be a part of this box and she wanted me to do a tutorial using this product. I was really excited because this would have been my first time partnering with someone and I was excited to get this particular business out there. I thought it was a really good concept.

Now, as you can probably tell from my blog, I never did that partnership. She never sent me the product. Instead she ended up sending it to someone else she had already done a partnership with before. Now this isn’t why i’m annoyed. If you wanted me to do something, but found someone who was better to do it, by all means go with that person. I’m not going to knock your hustle. Pick the better person for your business. I’m annoyed because once we made the agreement (mind you, I gave her my mailing address and everything), she told me she would email me again once she mailed the product and everything I needed to know about that particular product. So of course, I was waiting for that email and product. Eventually, I just didn’t worry about it anymore.

Well, I found out through YouTube that she ended up partnering with the person mentioned above. The thing that annoyed me is that I feel like if your are going to run a business and conduct business with people outside of that business, then you should properly do so. If you make an agreement with someone and later decide to back out of that, then you should do the proper thing and tell them that. I’m not going to be mad that you picked someone who you thought could promote the brand better because as I mentioned before, I’m not going to knock your hustle, do what you need to do. Just at least have the decency to let the other person know that. They shouldn’t have to find out through social media platforms. I feel like that would be a proper way to conduct business. Whether money is involved or not, I think it’s the more polite thing to do. Especially, if you plan to try doing business with that person later in the future. This time could have just not been the right time, but that is what annoyed me.

Sorry for the long post guys. I just really need to vent. I feel like when you do partnerships with people and decide to flake, there are proper things you should at least have the decency to do. It won’t turn people away from your business.

Let me know your thoughts below, i’d love to hear some of you guy’s opinions!!!
